Specialist Training Packages

Helping you to work better with vulnerable children and young people

There are many challenges facing workers involved in the support and care of vulnerable children and young people. We understand these issues and know how important it is to keep staff knowledge and skills up to date.

We are able to design and deliver tailored training packages for you. We can cover issues ranging from legal requirements in education to direct support in the education of children and young people.

Our packages can be designed to suit your organisation's needs in relation to content, location, timescales and delegate numbers.

Examples of topics we can deliver:

Attachment Issues

This training outlines the origins of attachment theory and offers valuable insights into the ways in which unsatisfactory early care relationships affect the social, emotional, behavioural and educational development of children.

Education, Law, Guidance and Policy

This training gives you a whistle stop tour through the maze of legislation and regulation surrounding education for vulnerable children/young people.

Life Story Work

This training looks at the impact of little or no access to information about knowing where children/young people come from and who/where they are, making sense of it, working through it and planning for the future. It looks at what tools can be adopted by schools and others to assist the life story work process for children and young people. Particularly, those who are looked after.

It covers good practice in life story work, including issues of identity and cultural heritage.

SEAL Issues and Strategies

This training is based on the many years of experience Core trainers and consultants have built up working in partnership with local authorities and schools to support the learning and emotional needs of vulnerable children and young people.

The foundations of our training are based on working models developed to support the successful educational experience of children within the care system. The strategies employed in supporting this most vulnerable group of young people are an example of good practice which can meet the needs of all young people experiencing similiar difficulties.
