Short Break Care

In partnership with children and young people, their families and carers, Core Disability Services is committed to offering quality support services to help disabled children and young people to live independent, full and dignified lives.

Registration as a Domicilary Care Agency alongside our fostering provision enables Core Disability Services to be innovative and provide the Full Service Offer as defined in the Aiming High for Disabled Children Agenda.

Within our short break care provision, Core Disability Services offers the following services:

  • Overnight breaks, within a foster carer's home or the disabled child/young person's own home
  • Breaks during the day, with care available in the child's home and elsewhere
  • Breaks in universal settings, delivered through the support of a befriending, sitting or sessional service

Core Disability Services can also provide:

  • Home based care services (e.g. washing, feeding, dressing)
  • Support to carers away from home on family holidays
  • Independent life skills to assist in transition to adulthood
  • Person centred individual care packages
  • Day care, holidays and activities
  • Palliative Care
  • Access to services via Direct Payments
